Ok, so my main is a Norn Ranger I've taken a slightly different angle than most (who tend to go Longbow/Shortbow with a focus on critical hits) in order to be a little more useful in dungeons.
I use Longbow (great AoE #5; and #3 then #2 combined with quickness zephyr or timewarp = very fast burst damage)
with an Axe (great for #2 bleeds and combo'ing of healing fountain #6) and a horn, great for adding might and speed with #5, doing a little bit of melee damage with #4
In dungeons I like to run with bears as they're tanky, but I've also set it that I gain quickness when I swap pets, so I do this every 20seconds to deal extra damage.
I tend to run Precision, CONDITION and critical hits build. I find that with pets and signet of stone I'm tanky enough without increasing toughness or vitality.
condition you might think a strange one, but this is due to the high number of bleeds you can get out of the character; though i am considering swapping this for power and changing a few things up.
definitely go with the healing fountain for #6, its benefits are amazing. It gives me and my pet a little heal, but also grants regen to anyone stood in it, and causes condition removal every 3 seconds. +if you have any combo finishers the happen within or across it you can gain more regen. so split axe #2 = 5 axes being thrown at once, couple this with the healing font thats 5x regen. swap weapons and pets = quickness and then hit #3 to grant 10 vulnerability to foe + 1 more regen stack, then hit zephyr of quickness (i have on #7) and then #2 to spam another 8 stacks dealing very high damage. Pretty much refills my health to the top in 2-3 seconds!
for utilities i use:
zephyr of quickness -> really makes the longbow a viable option
signet of stone -> increases toughness and makes me invulnerable for 6 seconds... can turn a fight.
signet of the wild (i think, one with paw) -> increases power and then increases damage if activated, but i tend to leave this one alone.
call of the wild -> great!! give a whole host of bonuses for 30 seconds, really increasing you and your pets damage output and stops you ending up on your backside as often.
traits are 30, 20, 10, 0, 10
making use of all the signet, condition and pet bonus' that I can find.
Just thought I'd share one of my characters. I haven't spent too much time developing it, I just like to get on with the game. Oh and I tend to swap to Lynx and Sylvarian Hound for PvP, WvW and PvE due to higher DPS and healing ability. don't really need tank in there as players tend to avoid pets, and PvE mobs don't do that much damage.
Why not share your builds in this thread? I'm sure you can make a much better job of it that me.
